Behind the Scenes at the Bridal Shower

There are many things that I love, that make me happy. One of the things on my list happens to be spending time with my sister. Because we live far away from each other our time together is spread out but we try to make the most of it!

When The Hubster and I traveled to Ohio for her bridal shower we got to have a sister day and knocked out some wedding stuff.

We worked on the table numbers for the reception:

Who knew a Cricut Machine could cut through it's own cutting board!?

 *not THESE girls*

By the way- I wanted one of these crazy machines before but now I REALLY want one!! It's a very cool thing that would be very handy and very useful in my life!! (does that sound like a hint-hint to anyone else?? I wonder if The Hubster reads the old blog?!)

I can't give away too many wedding details- so I will fast forward to the actual shower.

Lindsay chose a Tiffany & Co. theme so we used the iconic bags & boxes as inspiration. The guest list was quite large so we decided on "small bites", things ladies could nibble on while socializing.

I didn't get to take nearly as many photos as I had wanted and planned on taking, but I will share what I ended up with.

Behind the Scenes: In the Kitchen

We were both loved being in a commercial kitchen! I am hoping this venture has proven to Mike that I DO need a Viking or Wolf Range AND a double oven!

Yep, THIS is my husband! Suiting up for his job as Chef for the day, cooking for a room full of ladies. Have I ever told you guys HOW much I love this guy?!

Prep Work:

We were very lucky to have the catering department and Head Chef from Mike's work help us pull together a menu that would be perfect for the shower and travel. Chef  prepared a lot and packaged everything so setting up, cooking and getting the food out would be easy. We can't take credit for the actual recipes ormuch of preparation other than throwing it all together and making it look pretty!

Pulled Pork with Lime Sour Cream, on a Crispy Tortilla Chip

 Tomato & Mozzarella Bruschetta

Chicken Satay with Cilantro Pesto

White Bean Hummas topped with Pruscutto on a Toasted Cristini

We also had Spinach and Feta in Crispy Phyllo Triangles

Petite Fours, Brown Sugar/Chocolate Chip Cookies, Chocolate Mousse in Shortbread Cups, Fruit Salad, Veggie Tray & Tiffany colored M&M's

 The beautiful bridal party!

A Trip Across A Few States... 32 Weeks Pregnant

My little (and ONLY) sister is getting married soon- I am elated and feel sooooo special to be her Matron of Honor!

ALL SEVEN of us are in the wedding party so watch for upcoming blogs about that ha! Maddy & I will be in the Bridal Line, Ainsley & Ella are serving as flower girls, Own & Jack will be carrying the rings and Mike has a spot in the Groom's Line.

Wanna know the best part? It is 8 hours away and I will be 37 weeks pregnant when I join my sister on her special day (that I have been looking forward to forever!) Okay, so I am a little sarcastic about THAT part, but it is what it is and I am working with it.

The Hubster and I recently traveled to Ohio for the bridal shower sans the Herdlings (the in-laws were super nice to keep them for a 5 days!)

I Co-Hosted with the Grooms sister and since Mike and I are both in the food world, we provided the catering!

Here are some shots from our adventure!

Isn't this how any trip starts?!? It is in our family!

Yeah, I totally took my Kitchen Aid to Ohio with me!

I have heard stories of such chicken trucks, but have never seen one for myself. It is something I don't ever need or want to see again and it further fuels my desire to have my own chickens in my own back yard.

I wanna live in Friendsville!

Being this pregnant means a lot of bathroom stops- I am kinda proud to say I have now been to every rest stop between Virginia and Ohio! And, I can't wait to do it again next month!

Gifts For Us, For the Family.... or the Blog??

Well.... Christmas has come and gone, the oldest Herdling is back at school and The Hubster is back at work, all of my little daycare kids have returned.... and I am trying to restore order to our routine!

I hope everyone out there in blog-land had a wonderful holiday! We sure did! It was so nice to just spend time together, no dance classes to run to or work to worry about. Of course we spent a lot of time cooking! Mike is really spreading his wings in the kitchen- and showing me up a bit here lately!

My gift to him this year was a gelato machine, a counter top fryer and a french fry press. All things he has mentioned he would love to have and all things he has dabbled in over the past few months.

Not only do I love it when he flexes his muscles.... I love french fries!

I think this gift is a winner!

So far The Herd has been the testers for four new recipes, and all were delish!

I was gifted a beautiful new camera!!! So be on the look out for some fancier shots on the old blog- likely featuring these fun new kitchen toys! I was super surprised and SUPER-DUPER excited! I have been playing with it and trying to conquer all of the more advanced things it can do!

I am looking forward to all of the wonderful posts our Christmas gifts will bring!

Parent Rap

This little gem came to me via a "like" from a facebook friend and I just HAD to share it!

Seriously- If The Hubster wasn't so shy, this could totally be us!

To the parents who made this video... you made me smile. You made me giggle and you definitely made my day!

Parenting is no joke! It is hard, it takes skill and patience but ost of all, it takes a little sense of humor to make it through with out damage!

ENJOY!
